About the role

Managing a small team, you will be responsible for the delivery of both internal and external communications for group. Your primary role will be to promote and maintain the reputation of the Group’s business activities in the regions and communities in which the business operates and strengthen the awareness of the business culture and core values with stakeholders. In addition, you will ensure that the team provides high quality, timely and proactive communications support to the operations and head office functions on a day-to-day basis (as required) and also in the delivery of larger strategic projects.  

Reporting to the Company Secretary, you will help lead on the delivery of and be responsible for the production, publication, and distribution of published corporate literature for both internal and external audiences and generating digital and social media content. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • To actively manage the public relations and communication strategy for the group of companies.
  • To be responsible for management of the Group’s brand and ensure that its reputation and image is protected and aligned with the Group’s strategic interests; and to identify opportunities to enhance the company reputation.
  • To facilitate a better understanding of the Group’s activities and operations and highlight the support given to local communities to both internal and external audiences. 
  • To actively promote, support and help coordinate the delivery of stakeholder engagement activities including representing the company at community liaison meetings.

About you

  • Minimum of five years relevant PR / communications experience
  • Hold a degree in either English or other modern language, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism.
  • Have a creative, collaborative, positive and can-do approach to communications and the services provided by the team to support the aims of the company. 
  • Have excellent writing and editing skills for both online and print media and be able to write compelling and creative copy for diverse audiences.
  • Have proven experience of working collaboratively and consulting with internal and external stakeholders of all levels and delivering engagement programmes to identified stakeholders.
  • Understand the need and value of visual identity and branding and experience of transitioning to and developing online channels and digital media.
  • Have demonstrable experience of building and enhancing reputation through proactive and reactive public relations activities and managing responses to potential ‘crisis’ situations and ‘press threats.’
  • Experience of managing a small team.
  • Hold a full driving licence.
